Archaeor
maintains an office and laboratory facility on the campus of Ohlone
College
located in the Mission San Jose District of the City of Fremont,
Alameda
County. The company is 50% minority (Native American Indian)
owned
through an in-house partnership with The Ohlone Indian Tribe, Inc.
This partnership provides a unique collaboration between the
professional
archaeological community and the local Native American Indian
population.
This means that our firm provides a diverse scope of services which
meets
the requirements and goals of responsible Cultural Resources Management
(CRM) and, additionally, addresses the topics and concerns of the local
Native American Indian community by providing Native American Indian
consultation
and monitoring services for our clients.
Current employees total
three. Archaeor maintains a full-time “core” group which
is
supplemented
by former employees who work on a part-time, as-needed basis.
Specific
project hires are recruited as necessary for larger projects. We
have employed and trained as many as 39 Archaeological Field
Technicians
during a single large project. Every effort is made to hire and
retain
qualified personnel, and many of our former employees have subsequently
obtained employment with other CRM firms.
Archaeor
specializes in
managing
and completing small and medium sized projects, but also has the
ability
to develop and manage large-scale projects through either joint
ventures
or cooperative agreements with other firms. In September 2001, Archaeor
was chosen as a specialty team member firm by Basin Research
Associates,
Inc. to provide “on-call” cultural resources services for the Santa
Clara
Valley Transportation Authority. In addition, Archaeor is
currently a collaborative research team member firm for the University
of California at Berkeley’s “San Francisco Shellmound Project”, which
is
developing an integrated approach to the study of San Francisco Bay
Area
shellmounds.
